Reports
1. Food Garden System.
Training was given to those that asked to be trained. 28 Families did not have to buy food during 2001 and 2002. A pastor was supplied with produce by church members using the FG System, a community, irrespective of religious affiliation, bartered their surpluses for other goods.
2. Rabbit Farming
6 Persons received rabbits to farm. The system works like this.: When you have 10 breeding females, you supply 1 person with a breeding pair free of charge, on condition that he will do the same.
3. Fish Breeding
Small dam has been build during 2002. Research still to be done and water problem to be solved.
4. Soup Kitchen
As the emphases is on making the people self-sufficient, this will be an off and on project. During the 2002/2003 famine, food was supplied to 29 elderly people on a weekly basis for 4 months.
5. Natural Medicine
There is a great deal of knowledge available amongst the populace, but due to modern Western medicine it is no longer in use. Although treatment is "free"??? at the clinics and state run hospitals, you still have other problems like transport, time, availability of certain drugs etc.
6. Small Business
For a small capital outlay (by you) a person can start a small business. Richard was given 2 new and 1 secondhand electrical hair clippers (value about $70). He now has a thriving barbershop business and can feed himself and his extended family. With the right ideas and little training, people can become self-sufficient.
7. Christian Schools
The idea is to start small Christian Schools in this predominantly Muslim area. The persecution of the Christian children in some of the (government) schools are a nightmare.
8. Orphanage
Not yet established, but there is a great need for this. The best would be to be able to place Orphans in foster care and to train the families in self-sufficiency.
9. Old Age Care Center
Not yet established, but the need is great. As the younger generation dies off due to aids, there are no relatives to care for the old.
Someone must pioneer this.
10. Sport Clubs
Soccer and Basketball in some of the rural schools, but no other sport, like athletics.
